BC Assessment Released New Property Values

Happy New Year!

BC Assessment Authority has updated their 2024 Property Assessments, available now on their website. These assessments are also mailed so you should be receiving yours in the coming days.

It is important to note, these ‘values’ are based on the value as of July 1, 2023, and are not often reflective of current market value.

These assessments are used by tax authorities for determines the share of taxes owners will pay.

If you have a complaint about your assessment and feel it is incorrect you have until January 31, 2024 to file a notice of complaint, which is an appeal; however, you should understand that just because your assessment went up or down, it doesn’t necessarily mean you taxes will go up. It is relative to the change in your municipality and your property class.
